The WCCC women, students from the Hakipu’u Learning Center and other community volunteers have in recent weeks come to malama Ulupo Heiau. They have been clearing alien vegetation, working in the loi kalo, taking down alien trees and replanting with native Hawaiian plants.

You can support these efforts by coming to Ulupo Heiau (behind the Windward YMCA) this Saturday Sept. 15 from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm. Wear work clothes, tabis if working in the loi, gloves and bring your canteen water and a digging tool or chain-saw. Contact Kaimi Scudder at 593-0112 or Malia Bird Helela
