Please volunteer with us on Saturday August 16, 2014 from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm to help restore Na Pohaku o Hauwahine located along Kapa’a Quarry Rd. in Kawainui Marsh, Kailua. Our restoration efforts at this site are to remove alien plants and replant with endemic natives. We are also maintaining a native wetland bird habitat in the marsh where we remove alien weeds. We will be primarily concerned with weeding and cleaning up areas and possibly do some new native plantings. Wear work clothes, shoes, (no slippers!) bring your gloves, weeding or cutting tool, water and snack. Contact Kaimi Scudder at 263-8008 or email: email@ahahui.net if you’re coming and for more information. Also, see Ahahui Malama I ka Lokahi’s website at:http://www.ahahui.net

Aloha!
We have been getting your event/volunteer opportunity emails. If your organization is interested, the Hawaii Conservation Alliance hosts the conservationconnections.org website, which allows residents and visitors to get involved with conserving ocean, land and cultural resources. The site enables conservation areas to connect with supporters and volunteers. If you register Ahahui Malama i ka Lokahi, your group will have a page to post opportunities including volunteer, outreach, and internships. Feel free to visit, check out, and register the site, and let me know if you need any assistance with your profile if you decide on participating.
PS – registration for Conservation Connections is free!
