Archaeology and Historic sites tour of Kawainui Marsh, Sat. Oct. 27th

Join us on an archaeology and historic sites tour of Kawainui Marsh on Saturday October 27 from 8:30am to 12:30 pm.  Tour leaders Martha Yent, State Parks Interpretive Program director and Paul Brennan, anthropologist will lead the tour group to the archaeological sites at Ulupo Heiau, Pahukini Heiau and Na Pohaku o Hauwahine.  They will show you archaeological features that still exist in these places and explain the importance to protect and conserve these sites for future generations. The tour is co-sponsored by the Ahahui Malama i ka Lokahi and the Kailua Hawaiian Civic Club.  We will car pool between sites.

Donations of $10 will be accepted.  There will be a limit of 25 persons. Reservations must be made by calling Kaimi Scudder at 263-8008 or by email: email @ ahahui.net

History and Archaeology Tour of Kawainui Marsh Sat. Nov. 6th

Ahahui Malama i ka Lokahi and the Kailua Hawaiian Civic Club will conduct a history and archaeology tour of Kawainui Marsh on Saturday, November 6th. Anthropologist Paul Brennan and Martha Yent will show and speak on the historical and archaeological features at the Ulupo Heiau complex, Pahukini Heiau and Na Pohaku o Hauwahine. They will explain how these sites were used in ancient and historic periods and discuss plans by Hawaiian organizations, community groups and the State to protect and restore these sacred sites.

Tour of archaeological sites at Ulupo Heiau, Pahukini Heiau and Na Pohaku o Hauwahine, Kailua

exist in these places and explain the importance to protect and conserve
these sites for future generations. The tour is co-sponsored by the Ahahui

Archaeology tour of Kawai Nui Marsh, Oahu

Ahahui Malama i ka Lokahi, the Kailua Hawaiian Civic Club and The Kawai Nui Heritage Foundation will conduct a Hawaiian archaeology tour in Kawai Nui Marsh on Saturday November 3rd. Anthropologist Paul Brennan and Archaeologist Martha Yent of State Parks will show and speak on the archaeological features at the Ulupo Heiau complex, Na Pohaku o Hauwahine and Pahukini Heiau located in Kapa’a Valley. They will explain how these sites were used in ancient and historic periods and of present plans by Hawaiian organizations, State and Federal agencies to protect and restore these sacred sites. New and kama’aina residents in Kailua are encouraged to come. The tour will start at 8:30 am and be completed by 12:30 pm. A donation of $5 is requested.
